On 11 December, Make.org, together with ifok, hosted the second closed-door roundtable focusing on the opportunities of implementing AI for democratic processes. This second roundtable focused on the practical uses of AI in enhancing democratic processes, building on the success of our first roundtable, which centred on making AI systems fit for democracy and highlighted the Democratic Commons research programme.

A World First: Panoramic AI platform on EU level
For the first time ever, European institutions have tested Panoramic AI to better connect institutions with the broader public. The launch is only possible thanks to a first-ever collaboration on the use of AI for an EU institution between Make.org and the European Committee of the Regions. As part of EuroPCom 2024, Panoramic AI is being adapted to meet the unique needs of Europe’s largest gathering of public communication professionals. This world-first application marks a significant step forward for civic tech innovation, demonstrating how cutting-edge tools can strengthen the dialogue between institutions and citizens.

EU-CIEMBLY: Advancing Inclusive Democracy through Citizens’ Assemblies
The EU-CIEMBLY project, supported by Horizon Europe, is a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing citizen participation in European democracy. Make.org is a proud partner in the project. The project brings together diverse stakeholders—including civil society, academic institutions, and EU bodies—to develop and test new models of Citizens' Assemblies that are inclusive, representative, and capable of overcoming the barriers to participation that often exclude marginalized groups.
